Painshill Park is featured as a cherished historic park ‘under threat’ from the proposed change to the Gardens Trust’s statutory consultee status
Good morning everyone,
The Gardens Trust are continuing to push against the government’s proposal to remove them as a statutory consultee. I thought that you might be interested to read an article which appears in the Daily Express (hard copy) today and online. You can click here to read the article. The piece features Painshill Park and SGT member and garden historian Michael Symes.
The GT have had meetings with the Ministry of Housing, Local Government and Communities and are providing them with evidence around the importance of their and the country gardens trust’s work. The strength of feeling amongst the considerable supporter base has been noted. The next main step will be the public consultation into statutory consultees, including the proposed removal of the Gardens Trust – this is expected in the next couple of months. The GT will aim to publish the GT consultation response early, so that we can use it for our own responses.
I will keep you updated.
