AGM and Christmas Lunch

  • The Old Barn Hall 55 Church Road Great Bookham KT23 3PQ United Kingdom (map)

The Trust will be holding its Annual General Meeting followed by a keynote speaker and lunch in early December. We are thrilled to announce that this year’s speaker is landscape historian and author Tim Richardson. His talk will be on ‘The English Landscape Garden: Dreaming of Arcadia’, focusing on his most recent book of the same title. Tim will describe the evolution of the English landscape garden across the 18th century by means of ten exemplary gardens, from Castle Howard to Stowe to Painshill. His method is biographical, given that gardens of this period were often expressions of the personalities and beliefs of the people who made them. Join us for a wonderful journey through these historic places.

Tim Richardson is a landscape historian and critic who is the author of more than 20 books on the subject. He has been gardens editor at Country Life and a regular columnist in the Daily Telegraph. Please note that Tim will bring along copies of his books and these will be available for sale at the AGM. Payment by cash or card.

Please join us for lunch to celebrate the Trust’s achievements during the year and plans for the future. We will be offering a buffet lunch with wine and other refreshments. Please note that booking is essential for catering purposes.

We will also be hosting a raffle to raise funds to support the Trust’s many projects and outreach programmes such as the Schools Awards, Gateway and Small Grants. In addition, we will be selling our own SGT publications as well as second-hand gardening related books.

Please note that AGM papers will be sent out via email (or post to those members without email addresses) mid-November.

We look forward to welcoming you and celebrating the Trust’s many achievements throughout the year.
